Thomas Budge has worked at the Earth Data Analysis Center (EDAC) since 1975. He has held several positions at EDAC including Project Scientist, Remote Sensing Specialist, and Image Processing Specialist. In 1979 EDAC acquired its first image processing system and he became the first data processor. In 1990 he became the Manager of Image Processing Services and has been directly in charge of nearly 200 projects since that time. These projects include forestry and rangeland ecosystem inventory, mineral exploration both within the US and internationally, agricultural inventory, construction of large area digital mosaics, and international treaty verification and monitoring.
He has worked with a wide range of remotely sensed imagery such as Landsat MSS and TM, SPOT MSS and pan, IKONOS, Radarsat, AVHRR, KVR-1000, IRS, ADAR 5000, and scanned aerial photography. He has also worked with ancillary data sets such as DEMs, DLGs, DRGs, DTED, and TIGER data. He has attended several ERDAS training workshops and is experienced in the ERDAS IMAGINE Professional level software.
His responsibilities as Manager include preparation and monitoring of project budgets, marketing, staff management, client relations, proposal writing, and coordination with other EDAC divisions. He also serves as the Assistant Director of EDAC and is involved with the director and Associate Director in the long range planning and management of EDAC as well as general building activities.
